Training
Karen holds a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) and a Diploma of Psychological Practice. She has national registration with AHPRA as a psychologist and is a registered provider of psychological services with Medicare. She is also a member of the Australian Psychological Society.
Experience
In addition to her psychology registration, Karen holds a Bachelor of Nursing degree and has extensive experience working in the acute hospital setting as a registered nurse.
This background has created a passionate interest in the holistic relationship of psychological and physical wellbeing, with a particular interest in the area of Eating disorders and chronic pain management.
Karen’s psychology training involved working in specialised eating disorder and generalist private practices, treating disorders including depression, anxiety, workplace stress, self esteem issues and relationship concerns. Her therapy style is person centred and she seeks to develop a warm and open relationship with her clients. She is empathetic and dedicated to supporting her clients on the journey of growth and healing, drawing from evidence based psychotherapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
